A Honeymoon in Italy
Ten nights, running south to north the way your flights already do. Positano first, three nights on the cliffs above the sea, with Capri and Sorrento a short ferry away. Rome in the middle, for the Colosseum done properly and Trastevere after dark. Florence to finish, for the wine, the rooftops, and long lunches in the hills. Three home bases, connected by fast trains and ferries, and never a rental car.

Positano
The trip opens on the cliffs. Positano is the vertical, sun-bleached, bougainvillea-draped postcard everyone pictures when they picture the Amalfi Coast, a village that spills down to a beach lined with boats and long lunches. You settle in for three nights, take the sea at your own pace, and let Capri and Sorrento come to you by ferry. Three ways to sleep here, all with that view.
Lemon groves and blue water far below, a boat taxi to a beach club, and a terrace dinner as the lights come on down the cliff.
The value pick, and a lovely one. A bright, art-filled boutique climbing the hillside, with a sea-view terrace off your room. The best value of the three and the friendliest cancellation, right in the heart of Positano.
The romantic middle. A sea-view room with a private hot tub on the balcony, right in town and steps from the water. A step up from Pasitea, with the hot tub as the difference.
The Positano institution. A beloved family-run hotel with a beautiful pool, a spa, and one of the best terraces in town. The iconic name and the pool are the draw here.
Your days here
- Positano itself. The beach and its boats, the walk down through the shops, and a terrace dinner with the whole cliff lit up below.
- A day on Capri by ferry. A beach club, lunch at Da Luigi arriving by boat, and the chairlift up Monte Solaro.
- A day in Sorrento by ferry, flat and walkable, for lemon groves, a long lunch, and the passeggiata.
- A private boat afternoon along the coast if you want it, with swim stops in hidden coves.
Rome
The middle of the trip, and the one place the history is worth the detour. You stand on the floor of the Colosseum, then spend the rest of Rome the way you would actually want to: food in Testaccio where Romans eat, cocktails and long dinners in Trastevere, and rooftop bars as the light goes gold. Enough of the ancient city to feel it, none of the museum marathon.
The Colosseum lit up at dusk, a negroni on a rooftop, and a Trastevere alley that does not quiet down until very late.
The design led, social pick, and the Rome cousin of a stylish city hotel. A rooftop, a real bar scene, and a walkable spot near the food streets and Trastevere. The stronger value, and the one that fits your nights out.
The splurge, and a wine lover's dream. An intimate Small Luxury Hotels property built around one of the best wine cellars in the city, tucked near Campo de' Fiori and walkable to everything.
Your days here
- The Colosseum, on the arena floor, so you stand where it happened rather than behind a rope.
- A food walk through Testaccio, the neighborhood where Romans actually eat.
- Trastevere after dark, cocktails and a long dinner in the prettiest part of the city.
- Rooftop bars at sunset, and open time to wander with a gelato and no agenda.
Florence
Your golden landing. Florence rewards a slow pace, exactly what you want at the end of a honeymoon. Coffee at the bar like a local, an afternoon in the Oltrarno, a rooftop with the Duomo lit up, and the wine and cooking days you came for. Two lovely ways to sleep, one social and central, one that scratches the villa itch.
Cypress hills, a glass of Chianti Classico that ruins you for anything else, and a cooking class that ends with the two of you eating everything you made.
The design led, social pick, and the one that fits your nightlife lean best. A genuine bar and cafe scene downstairs, a stylish crowd, and a private terrace studio upstairs. Central, walkable, and the strongest value on the table.
The villa feeling without leaving the city. A converted 18th century villa in the center of Florence with a private garden and a pool, which almost no central hotel can offer. Part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, and a lovely value at this rate.
Your days here
- A full day in Chianti Classico with a private driver, two estates, and a long hosted lunch in the hills.
- A hands-on Tuscan cooking class, half a day, that ends at the table.
- Open time for shopping, a wine bar crawl, and rooftop aperitivo with the Duomo in view.
