England, Two Ways
London + Bath  |  A family of four
●  August 4 – 13, 2026 ●  10 Days ●  2 Adults, 2 Teens

Ten days, two of England’s best destinations, and a wishlist built for a family that wants to actually experience a place rather than just check it off. London first — for the neighborhoods, the history, the theater, and a day at Alton Towers — then Bath for Georgian grandeur, Roman history, and a beach day before flying home.

Arrive London Heathrow Terminal 5
Heathrow Express to Paddington (15 min), then Tube or taxi to the NYX. Check in, drop bags.

First Night in London
Dinner near the hotel in Holborn or Covent Garden. Early night — a long day deserves rest.
Day 2
Notting Hill + Westminster
Wed, Aug 5
Morning
Notting Hill Most Wanted
Colorful townhouses, Portobello Road, great cafes. A gentle start to the trip that feels like London immediately.
Afternoon
Big Ben + Westminster Bridge Most Wanted
Cross town to Westminster. Walk the bridge for the classic view, visit Parliament Square. Buckingham Palace is a short detour if the group wants it.
Evening
Dinner in Westminster or South Bank
The South Bank riverfront has great casual dining options. A good evening walk too.
Day 3
Borough Market + Tower Bridge + South Bank
Thu, Aug 6
Morning
Borough Market Most Wanted
Open Thursday through Saturday. One of the best food experiences in London — arrive by 10am before the crowds hit their peak. Lunch here.
Afternoon
Tower Bridge Most Wanted
15-minute walk east from Borough Market. Go inside for the glass walkway and views. Tower of London is right next door if the group wants to add it.
Evening
South Bank Stroll + Dinner
Walk the riverfront back toward Waterloo. Plenty of great casual dining along here.
Day 4
Alton Towers
Fri, Aug 7
Early Morning
Train to Stoke-on-Trent
About 1.5 hours from London Euston, then shuttle or taxi to the park (30 min). Leave by 7:30am to arrive for opening.
All Day
Alton Towers
England’s biggest theme park. Top rides include Nemesis Reborn, Oblivion, Smiler, and Wicker Man. Book tickets well in advance — significantly cheaper than the gate price.
Evening
Return to London
Last train back arrives London around 9–10pm. Consider staying overnight near the park to avoid the rush.
Pro tip: August is peak season at Alton Towers. A Fastrack pass for the top 2–3 rides is worth it to make the most of the day.
Day 5
Portobello Market + Carnaby Street + West End
Sat, Aug 8
Morning
Portobello Road Market + Covent Garden
Saturday is the best day for Portobello Market. Go early for the best stalls, then make your way to Covent Garden for street performers and the market hall.
Afternoon
Carnaby Street Most Wanted
Independent boutiques, streetwear, and great energy. The surrounding Soho streets are worth wandering too.
Late Afternoon
Oxford Street
Every major brand plus Selfridges. Good for a couple of hours of shopping before dinner.
Evening
West End Show
Highly recommended. Hamilton, Les Misérables, and The Lion King are all running. Book well in advance or try the TKTS booth in Leicester Square for same-day tickets.
Day 6
Day Trip: Canterbury + Hampstead Heath
Sun, Aug 9
Morning
Canterbury Most Wanted
1 hour from London St Pancras on the high-speed train. The Cathedral is extraordinary — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The medieval city center is entirely walkable. Allow 3 hours.
Early Afternoon
Return to London
Back in London by early afternoon.
Afternoon
Hampstead Heath
790 acres of parkland with sweeping views over the city, swimming ponds, and space to breathe. A perfect contrast to the morning’s history.
Evening
Dinner in Hampstead Village
One of London’s prettiest neighborhoods for an evening meal. Great independent restaurants and pubs right on the high street.
Day 7
Day Trip: Oxford → Travel to Bath
Mon, Aug 10
Morning
Oxford Most Wanted
1 hour from London Paddington. Walk the colleges, see the Bodleian Library, explore Christ Church. A morning is plenty — back in London by early afternoon.
Early Afternoon
Return to London + Check Out of NYX
Collect bags and check out. Luggage storage at the hotel until you’re ready to head to Paddington.
Afternoon
Train to Bath
London Paddington direct to Bath Spa, 1h20m. Straightforward with luggage.
Evening
Arrive Bath + Check In to Apex
Drop bags, take a short walk through the city center, dinner in Bath. A gentler evening after a full day.
Note: This day has Oxford, checkout, and travel to Bath all in one. It’s manageable but full. If it feels like too much, Oxford can move earlier in the trip and Day 7 becomes a relaxed London morning before transferring to Bath.
Now in Bath, England  |  Aug 10 – 13
Day 8
Bath Proper
Tue, Aug 11
Morning
Roman Baths
Pre-book tickets — this gets busy in August. Allow 2 hours. Extraordinary Roman history right in the city center.
Midday
Bath Abbey + Pulteney Bridge
Both free and stunning. Bath Abbey is right next to the Roman Baths. Pulteney Bridge is a short walk — one of only four bridges in the world with shops on both sides.
Afternoon
Royal Crescent + The Circus
The iconic Georgian architecture Bath is famous for. A 20-minute walk from the center. Worth every step.
Evening
Dinner in Bath
Bath has a genuinely excellent food scene. The Scallop Shell for fish, Menu Gordon Jones for something adventurous, or the Apex restaurant for convenience.
Day 9
Clevedon Beach + Spa Day
Wed, Aug 12
Morning
Clevedon Beach Most Wanted
About 30–40 minutes from Bath by hired car or taxi. A Victorian seaside town on the Bristol Channel — charming pier, pebbly beach, great fish and chips. A lovely contrast to the city days.
Afternoon
Pool + Spa at the Apex
Back in Bath in the early afternoon. The hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and steam room are a perfect end-of-trip wind-down.
Evening
Farewell Dinner
Last night — make it count. Afternoon tea earlier in the day is a wonderful option here if the group hasn’t done it yet.
Getting to Clevedon: No direct train from Bath. A pre-booked taxi or hired car is the easiest option — approximately £50–70 each way and well worth it for a morning by the sea.
Day 10
Departure
Thu, Aug 13
Morning
Check Out + Transfer to Heathrow
Bath Spa station direct to London Paddington (1h20m), then the Elizabeth line to Heathrow Terminal 5 (35 min). Leave Bath by 2pm for a 5:25pm departure to be comfortable.
5:25pm
Depart Heathrow on BA 179
Terminal 5. Arrives JFK Terminal 8 at 8:20pm EST same day.
Good news: The 5:25pm departure means no early morning rush on the last day. Enjoy a relaxed morning in Bath, a proper checkout, and a comfortable journey to the airport.
On the Wishlist but Not Scheduled

Cotswolds, Windsor, Cambridge

Cotswolds
Best done with a full day and a rental car. Ten days doesn’t leave room without cutting something else — a great reason to come back.
Windsor
Easy half-day from London Paddington (40 min). Could swap in on Day 7 if the group prefers castles over colleges, or pair with Oxford for a two-stop day.
Cambridge
50 minutes from London Kings Cross. Similar feel to Oxford — could swap in on Day 7 if preferred.

A Word About Travel Insurance

The flights on this booking are non-refundable. A comprehensive travel insurance policy for a family of four on a trip this size typically runs $300–400 and covers trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and lost luggage — well worth the peace of mind on a trip of this length.

I recommend Faye travel insurance, which offers excellent coverage for international family travel. Ask me for a quote alongside your booking.
